Iran is just months away from acquiring a nuclear weapon, so states U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta. As Debka.com recently reported, Panetta's "reference to 'a hidden facility somewhere in Iran that may be enriching fuel' reflects the growing conviction among Western and Middle East intelligence experts that Iran has fast-tracked its high-grade uranium enrichment in underground facilities."
Israeli diplomats, military officials, and intelligence personnel were in Washington in December to argue that Iran is much farther along in its nuclear process than U.S. officials have stated. Evidence for this assertion includes soil samples collected at nuclear sites in Iran.
As Panetta indicated, Iranian and nuclear experts suspect that Iran will achieve nuclear capability within a year—possibly within months. And, at long last, the Obama administration is now agreeing publicly with that assessment.
It is no secret that Iran is racing toward nuclear capability in order to follow its leaders' Mahdi-driven goal of bringing the world under submission to Islam. Both Iran's Spiritual Leader Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad believe they are in direct communication to the Mahdi (a.k.a. the Twelfth Imam or the Muslim messiah), who has called them to achieve this goal by following these steps: 1) eliminate Israel; 2) bring the Middle East under domination of Iran / Shiite Islam; 3) bring Europe under this same domination; 4) bring the U.S. under the same domination; 4) introduce global chaos, which is when the Mahdi is supposed to step onto the world stage to bring the world into submission of Islam. Iran's leaders believe they have also been directed to develop nuclear weapons in order to accomplish these steps toward the regime's overarching goal.
Due to step number one above, Israel cannot allow Iran to obtain nuclear capability; and British officials have announced that Israel will attack the Persian state soon. As I have discussed in the past, when Israel launches a strike on Iran, the Iranian opposition movement may well take advantage of the resulting chaos to bring down the regime.
The importance of this is that when the Iranian regime falls, the world's biggest supporter of terrorism will be eliminated, which will have an adverse impact on terrorism in the region. In fact, it is very possible that the deposing of the Iranian terrorist government will lead to the eventual (or, possibly, quick) defeat of terrorism.
The defeat of terrorism is necessary for the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy in at least two ways. First, the Bible predicts an end-times (seven-year) treaty with Israel, one which will start the clock ticking on the final seven years leading to the return of Christ. Currently, Middle East terrorist groups (such as Hamas and Hizbullah) oppose that treaty and are willing to do what they can to prevent it.
Secondly, 1 Thessalonians 5:3 predicts that world leaders will proclaim, "Peace and security!" This will occur in connection with this treaty; for as they see a treaty between Israel and ten national leaders ratified, world leaders will believe they have achieved "peace and security" at long last. However, there is no way leaders will believe they have obtained "peace and security" while terrorism continues unabated. It will only be the appearance of the defeat of terrorism that will bring about this fulfillment.
It appears that God has been preparing for the eventuality of the taking down of the Iranian regime, resulting in the defeat of terrorism. After all, internal problems and Arab upheavals pose significant problems for Iran. These internal problems include economic difficulties, the devaluing of the Iranian currency, rising unemployment, and the erosion in the status of the Iranian clerics.
The latter problem is an issue because the Iranian revolutionary model is built on the iron-fisted rule of the clerics. This erosion includes the growing resistance, within Iran, of the concept of rule by the Supreme Leader.
Internal problems appear to be growing the opposition movement within Iran. As conditions worsen, it simply makes sense that more would join this revolution. This includes some of the Revolutionary Guard, a very powerful arm of the government, along with other government officials.
In addition, when the Syrian regime falls, it will likely embolden the Iranian opposition movement. After all, those within this uprising have been observing the courageous protestors in Syria who have been willing to give their lives in order to bring down the current Syrian government.
Thus, the stage appears to be set. Let the countdown to the fulfillment of end-times prophecy begin.
